Molson Group, one of the UK’s biggest independent dealers in construction equipment is raising money to help the local community.

Robin Powell, the director of Molson Group had the idea to replicate the iconic journey made by fly boats in the 1800s along the Grand Union Canal which was the M1 of the 1800s, used to ship high value and perishable goods from London to Birmingham and Birmingham back to London. The crew would work non-stop for 56 hours to cover the 114 miles and 136 locks, working around the clock, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week operating in a shift pattern.

Molson Group have been reaching out to their peers within the industry to raise sponsorship by offering advertising opportunities along the boat. So far they have raise £3,000 of their £10,000 total aim.

The charities that they are supporting are The Wallace and Gromit’s Grand Appeal, which is the only charity fundraising exclusively for the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children and St Michael’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Based in Bristol this charity has always had the continuing support of Molson and has touched the hearts of many of their colleagues, suppliers and customers.

Molson Group is also proud to be associated with Hire a Hero, a charity that supports service leavers through the transition into civilian life. For many service leavers civilian life can be a confusing, chaotic place; the charity, through its network of businesses, mentors and volunteers provides a consistent source of support to service leavers.

This challenge will start at Kingswood Junction on Wednesday 6th May in the evening and depending on the success of the crew will be drawing in to Bull’s Bridge Junction the morning of Saturday 9th May. Molson are still urging people to get in touch, donate, join the crew and support this endeavor.

As Christmas quickly approaches are you setting aside time this year and spending money on Christmas cards and postage across the country to friends and family?

Perhaps in the rushed lead up to Christmas you feel short on time, are out of country, working non-stop or are considering being more environmentally friendly.

Why not consider instead donating the money you would spend on Christmas cards to Hire a Hero which will not only get you in the festive spirit but also support the continued work we are doing in serving those who have served us.

To download Hire a Hero’s e-card and spread some Christmas cheer please click HERE (right click and select ‘Save Link/Target As).

In exchange we encourage supporters to to make a voluntary donation online through either BT MyDonate or Virgin Money Giving.
